Case StudyMirada
OVERVIEW
The Mirada site planning began in 2013 with the acquisition by Vision Development of a 10 acre parcel of land on North High Street in the Olentangy School district that was formerly a drive-in movie theater.
After meetings with local stakeholders and officials, Vision created a plan to develop a hotel that would allow for an appropriate unit density and still conform to local zoning restrictions. The result was a center-hallway design that provided multiple floor-plans along with all the amenities that have come to be associated with a Vision Development project.
The project was not without challenges. When excavation work began, huge concrete footers were unearthed where the drive-in movie screen used to be. This being a four-story project, we had to implement building technologies, including a Continued Load Path System (CLP) of wind shear rods that helped with building stability in high winds.
A team of over 40 sub-contractors, with more than 200 on-site employees, worked alongside our construction team to create a project that was completed in the second quarter of 2018.
“I think the Mirada project is one of the best examples of the full capabilities of our team.”
